Matīss Burģis (born August 31, 1989 in Priekule ) is a Latvian table tennis player . He participated in the 2012 Olympics.
Career
Matīss Burģis was 2004 youth European champion in doubles with the Czechoslovak Antonin Schwarzer. From 2004 to 2013 he was nominated for participation in nine world championships , but never came close to medal ranks. He also took part in several European championships .
In 2012 he qualified for participation in the individual competition of the Olympic Games. Here he defeated the Canadian Pierre-Luc Hinse, but then lost in the second round to the Russian Alexei Smirnow .
In the 2007/08 season he joined the Bundesliga club TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau . Currently (2013) he plays for the Thuringian club Post SV Mühlhausen in 1951 in the German table tennis Bundesliga . In the 2013/2014 season he played in second place, in the 2014/2015 season in third place. In 2015 he joined the TTC Wil in Switzerland.
