The association TG Hanau - official name Turngemeinde 1837 Hanau a. V. (a. V. = old legal association ) - is a sports club in Hanau . It consists of 23 departments in which 32 sports are practiced, u. a. Badminton , basketball , baseball , hockey , inline hockey , volleyball and table tennis . The club also offers a wide range of paid sports courses. The association has around 3700 members.

history

The TG Hanau was founded in 1837 as a gymnastics club. Due to the highest cabinet order of June 16, 1893, it was given the designation "recognized association" (a. V.). The state award as a. V. continued to exist even after the Civil Code came into force on August 18, 1896 ( Art. 82 EGBGB ). The association is therefore not entered in the register of associations , but is nevertheless legally competent.

In 1897 a tender for the construction of a new gymnasium on a plot of land " Am Steinheimer Tor " took place. The first prize went to Philipp Mertes , Cologne, the second prize to Paul Baumgarten , Iserlohn. The gymnastics community then commissioned an architect from Hanau, who made another based on these two designs.

A club house built in 1878 was replaced between 1900 and 1902 by a new building on another property by Franz Thyriot , son of the Hanau city master builder, who was in charge of the site management.

sports

After the TGH was "only" a gymnastics club in the year of its foundation in 1837, today it offers aikido, badminton, basketball, baseball, archery, boxing, cheerleading, fencing, gymnastics, handball, hapkido, hockey, inline hockey, ju-jutsu, judo and athletics , Skiing, swimming, tennis, table tennis, triathlon, gymnastics, volleyball, dancing, hiking and Zumba offer a total of 32 sports in 23 departments. These 22 departments enable an absolutely modern, healthy and varied "physical activity". These individual departments then each have a very wide range of offers, from a baby crawling club to fitness and health offers to senior gymnastics. In addition to all these offers, the TGH has a sports field, an outdoor basketball court, four tennis courts, two beach volleyball fields, an inline hockey field, a barbecue hut and, with the Jahnhalle , a sports hall, a gym, a gym, a studio and a restaurant with the Jula-Hof sports facility and a youth room.

basketball

In the 2010/2011 season the 1st men's team (Hanau White Wings) plays in the 1st regional league. The White Wings won first place there and have been playing in the ProB since the 2011/2012 season . The female "U17" and male "U16" teams continue to play in the youth league. In 2013, the ProB license of the newly founded White Whings Basketball GmbH was sold for € 100,000 after internal disputes about the costs of the professional team and the continuation of its game operations. Since then, the operating company of the ProB team, which is otherwise independent of the association, has supported the basketball youth work of the TG-Hanau. The name "White Wings", which refers to the swan as the coat of arms of the city of Hanau, is now used both by the professional team of White Wings Basketball GmbH and also by the club basketball teams.

For the 2015/16 season, the HEBEISEN White Wings Hanau were promoted to the second highest ProA division . The first season there was finished in eleventh place.

The department is one of the oldest inline hockey teams in Germany, it was previously based at Hanauer REC , later switched to TG and is called "Lobster". The team was founded in September 1994 when ten players got together to play inline hockey, and in autumn 1995 a two-day regional tournament was held for the first time. The friendly game against the "Skyliners" can be seen as the birth of inline hockey in Hesse, after which the Hesse League was founded. When the sport was expanded to the federal level in 1996 with the establishment of the German Inline Hockey League , a team was registered under the name "Hurricanes". In the first German championship in 1998 Hanau was in the final.

The TG Lobster men's team will play in the regional league in the 2019/2020 season.

Ju-Jutsu

The association regularly organized the German Open in Ju-Jutsu Fighting and Duo until 2012 .

Table tennis

Until the 2008/09 season the table tennis department consisted of around 30 amateur players. Most recently, the first men's team played in the district class.

In 2009 the TG Hanau took over the eligibility for the highest German professional class DTTL (formerly Bundesliga) from TTV Gönnern . Such a takeover had not happened before in Germany. From patrons, the players Steffen Mengel , Ruwen Filus and Chiang Hung-chieh as well as the coach Helmut Hampl moved to Hanau. In addition, Jörg Roßkopf from TTC indeland Jülich , Patrick Franziska from TTV Elz and the Korean Lee Jung-sam were signed on. The first season was successfully completed with 8th place and the associated relegation. In the ETTU Cup, the people from Hanau even reached the semi-finals.

Yang Zi (Jülich) and Thomas Keinath (France) were signed for the 2010/11 season . They were supported by Steffen Mengel and Patrick Franziska. A midfield position was given as the goal. The season ended the TG Hanau on the eighth and thus on a non-relegation place.

The team was changed again for the 2011/12 season. Thomas Keinath left the club in the direction of league competitor SV Plüderhausen . Yanz Zi also left the club. Ruwen Filus and Yang Li were signed up, who together with Patrick Franziska and Steffen Mengel represented the TG Hanau in the Bundesliga. Handball

The handball department of the Turngemeinde 1837 Hanau aV was founded in 1920 by the later honorary chairmen of the TGH Karl Lippstreu and Hugo Winkler. The intensification of youth work produced initial successes, so that in 1965 a championship and promotion to the Association League Group Center was due. After three years of membership in this league, the first place in the table was achieved in 1968 and in the subsequent relegation games with the other group winners TV Felsberg and TG Ober-Roden, the men of the TGH under player-coach Herbert Kraft and team manager Heinz Uhl won the Hessen championship in field handball.

The first men's team of the TG Hanau merged in 2016 with the first men's team of the Erlensee sports club to form a men's game community. Since the merger, the team has played in the district class A Hanau / Offenbach.

rope skipping

Former sports

American football

The men's team (Hanau Falcons) had been in the football department of the TG Hanau since 2011 and played in the Association League Middle in the 2013 season. In 2014, due to internal disputes and the threat of a non-granted license, the team could no longer hold together and it was decided to withdraw from league operations. An attempted new beginning failed due to a lack of participation, which is why the Falcons finally disbanded in mid-2014.

Youth football

Although the rule was to offer "any sport except football", there was also a short period of football for young people in the TG program, but this offer was terminated on July 1, 2016.
