Csilla Bátorfi [ ˈtʃilːɒ ˈbaːtorfi ] (born March 3, 1969 in Szombathely ) is a Hungarian table tennis player . She won several titles at European championships.

Beginning

Csilla Bátorfi is the daughter of the pediatrician István Bátorfi, who played table tennis in the Hungarian 2nd division in the 1980s. Her father introduced her to table tennis when she was 9 years old, and he became her first coach. After a few years in Tolna (1975–1984) the family moved to Budapest. Here Csilla Bátorfi joined the BSE association.

Youth successes

At the European Schools Championships in 1982 she won bronze in singles and with the team, in 1983 third place in doubles (with Krisztina Nagy ) and gold with the team. In 1984 she took part in the European Championships for young people and was the winner with the team, in individual she took 3rd place. In 1985 she was European Youth Champion in mixed with Carl Prean . In the same year she was nominated for the first time for the World Championship for adults. A year later she won the European Youth Championship both in singles (final against the German Ilka Böhning ) and in doubles (with Krisztina Nagy).

Adults

At the national Hungarian championships Csilla Bátorfi won the singles title in 1990, 1992 and 1993. She won the double competition in 1985 (with Zsuzsa Oláh ), 1988 and 1989 (each with Edit Urbán ), 1991 (with Gabriella Wirth ), 1992 (with Éva Braun), 1994 to 1996 (with Krisztina Tóth ), as well as 1998 and 1999 (with Krisztina Tóth). In mixed she won in 1993 with her brother Zoltán.

In 1985 she defeated the ATSV Saarbrücken team in the final of the Nancy Evans Cup with the BSE Budapest club .

From 1985 to 2005 Csilla Bátorfi was represented at all 13 world championships and at all 11 European championships . She won nine titles at the European Championships: 1986 singles and with the team, 1988 doubles (with Edit Urbán ), 1990 doubles (with Gabriella Wirth ) and with the team, 1994 doubles (with Krisztina Toth) and mixed (with Zoran Primorac ) and again in 2000 in doubles (with Krisztina Tóth ) and with the team. She won the European ranking tournament Top-12 in 1987, 1992 and 2001.

She was also represented at all five Olympic Games from 1988 to 2004.

In 1991 Bátorfi left Budapest. After a year in Kikinda (Serbia), she joined the German club TTC Langweid as a player- coach in 1992 , with whom she was German team champion seven times and national championship champion three times. After winning the European Cup in 1997, a street in Langweid was renamed Csilla-Batorfi-Weg . In 2007 Bátorfi left Langweid and moved to Italy. From 2007 to June 2011 she was the trainer of the Italian women's national team and has been living in Langweid again since July 2011, where she works as a freelance trainer.

Private

Her younger brother Zoltán is also a strong table tennis player. Since the 2016/2017 season she has played actively and regularly for the women's team of FC Bayern München eV
