János Faházi 1964

János Faházi (born April 23, 1942 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian table tennis player . He won two bronze medals at the European Championships in 1964.

Career

János Faházi made his first international appearance at the European Youth Championships in 1959 when he was first with the Hungarian team. At the national Hungarian championships he won a total of three titles, namely in 1963 in doubles with Zoltán Berczik and in mixed with Éva Kóczián and in 1964 in doubles with László Pigniczki . In 1963 he became Hungarian team champion with the club Bp. Vörös Meteor. In February 1964 he took part in the open German championships and reached third place in doubles with Péter Rózsás .

In 1963 and 1965 he took part in the World Championships and won bronze in mixed with Éva Kóczián in 1963 . He was more successful at European championships. Here he reached the semi-finals in 1964 in doubles with László Pigniczki and in mixed with Erzsébet Heirits . In 1966 he was eliminated from these two competitions in the quarter-finals.

In 1969, János Faházi stayed in the west after a tournament in the Netherlands and joined the German Bundesliga club VfL Osnabrück . He later played in other German clubs, from around 1985 at SV Esting in Bavaria and in the late 1980s in the regional league at SC Fürstenfeldbruck . In between he was active again in Hungary, around the mid-1970s with the club Ganz Mavag Budapest, with whom he reached the final of the ETTU Cup in 1977 .
