László Pigniczki

László Pigniczki [ ˈlaːsloː ˈpignitski ] (born August 9, 1937 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian table tennis player and trainer. He won bronze in doubles at a European championship .

In 1955 Pigniczki joined the Spartacus Budapest Association. From 1957 to 1967 he was part of the Hungarian national team. In 1964 he was Hungarian champion in doubles (with János Faházi ), in 1965 he won the national title in singles. In the national Hungarian rankings he was ranked number one in 1966. He took part in world championships three times , namely in 1959 , 1961 and 1965 , in 1959 he was second with the Hungarian team. At the European Championships he was represented in 1960, 1964 and 1966, where he won bronze in a double in 1964 together with János Faházi.

Trainer

From 1961 the trained sports teacher worked alongside his active career as a trainer in the youth division of Spartacus Budapest. He later worked as national coach, from November 1975 to 1979 in Austria (as successor to Edvard Vecko ), from 1984 to the end of 1988 in Hungary. In 1989 he came to Germany, where from January to June 1994 he was state trainer for the TTV Lower Saxony . He later worked as the head coach at the Central Sports School in Budapest.

Private

Pigniczki's son, whose first name is also László, took part in the 1983 European Schools Championships in Malmö.
