Péter Rózsás

Péter Rózsás (* 1943 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian table tennis player who became European champion in mixed and doubles in 1964 and 1972.

Career

The left-hander Péter Rózsás achieved his first international success at the European Youth Championships in 1959, where he advanced to the final in singles and doubles with Imre Biro.

At the National Hungarian Championships for adults, he won the title five times, namely in 1967 in singles, 1966 in doubles with Sándor Harangi and in 1964, 1966 and 1967 in doubles with Sárolta Máthé . He was Hungarian team champion twelve times, with Vasútépítő Törekvés SK 1958, 1959, 1962, 1964 and with Budapest Vasutas SC 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1972, 1974, 1978, 1979. He also won the European Cup with Vasútépítő Törekvés SK 1962/63 and with Budapest Vasutas SC as player-coach 1974/75 the ETTU Cup . In 1966 he was ranked fourth in the Hungarian ranking.

From 1961 to 1973 Rózsás was nominated five times for world championships . He won bronze with the Hungarian men's team in 1961 . In 1964 , the doubles with Zoltán Berczik made it to the semi-finals, in mixed with Sárolta Lukacs he became European champion. This mixed won another medal in 1966 , namely bronze. At the 1972 he won the double competition with István Jónyer .

In 1964 Rózsás took part in the International Championships of the Netherlands and was second in the individual behind the Swede Hans Alsér . The mixed with Sárolta Lukacs won the same year at the International Austrian Championships.
