Aya Umemura
Aya Umemura ( Japanese 梅村 礼 , Umemura Aya ; born December 4, 1976 in Tomakomai , Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese table tennis player and a professional table tennis player who played for the TTC Langweid in the first German Bundesliga .
Life
Umemura started playing table tennis when she was seven. She graduated from Japanese high school and then became a professional table tennis player. In Japan she played for the teams Team Juroku-Bank and Team Nihonseimei. Later she was active in Sandonatese (Italy) and for TuS Holsterhausen (Essen) . Umemuara lives in Düsseldorf, where she works as an assistant trainer for the German Table Tennis Association . Between 2005 and 2007 and again since July 2010 she played in Germany for TTC Langweid. From 2012 she was employed as a trainer at the Werner Schlager Academy in Schwechat near Vienna. In 2014 she joined the Weiß-Rot-Weiß Kleve (2nd Bundesliga), in 2016 she moved to TUSEM Essen .
Sporting successes
Umemura reached the quarter-finals at the 2003 World Table Tennis Championships , won bronze with the Japanese team at the 2004 World Cup , was twice Japanese individual champion and eight times national champion with Japanese clubs. With the TTC Langweid she became German team champion in 2006 and 2007. In 2004 she was number eleven in the ITTF world rankings from March to May .
