Li Ching (table tennis player)
Li Ching ( Chinese 李靜 , Pinyin Lǐ Jìng ; born March 7, 1975 in Doumen , Zhuhai , Guangdong , China ) is a Chinese table tennis player from Hong Kong who won silver in doubles at the 2004 Olympic Games.
Career
Li Ching was born in China. He soon belonged to the Chinese national team, but had to interrupt his career in 1997 because of health problems, such as a beef allergy. He began studying at Jinan University and was third again in the 1999 Chinese National Championship. He then played internationally for Hong Kong, where he was promoted by the national coach Chan Kong Wah .
Li Ching achieved many successes in doubles with his standard partner Ko Lai Chak . With him he won the Asian Championships in 2003 and 2005 and the Asian Games in 2006.
From 2001 to 2011 he was nominated for ten world championships . In 2006 and 2008 he was third with the team from Hong Kong, in 2007 he won bronze in doubles. Also at the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals , this double made it to the semifinals four times in a row from 2004 to 2007. In 2004 and 2008 he took part in the Olympic Games. He won the silver medal with Ko Lai Chak in 2004, the final against the Chinese Chen Qi / Ma Lin was lost.
In the ITTF world rankings , Li Ching's best ranking was 10th in June 2008.
In 2006 Li Ching moved to the Belgian club Royal Villette Charleroi , with whom he won the 2007 Champions League .
