In the same year, she was Chinese individual vice champion. After an injury, she could no longer catch up with the top of China. That's why she emigrated to Japan in 2001 and played here in the Companies League. Four years later, she settled in Singapore and took citizenship there. For eight months she worked at the National Training Center in Toa Payoh (Singapore). From 2005 she started internationally for Singapore.

She made it into the semi-finals three times at the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals in doubles, in 2005 with Sun Beibei , in 2007 with Li Jia Wei and in 2011 also with Li Jia Wei. In addition, she reached the semi-finals in singles in 2008 and 2011. At the Asian Championships she was second with the team in 2007, 2009 and 2012, in 2009 she failed in doubles with Feng Tianwei only in the round of the last four. Since 2007 (until 2012) she took part in all six world championships . Here she had her greatest successes with the team that won gold in 2010 and reached the final in 2008 and 2012 . In 2007 she won bronze in doubles with Li Jia Wei.

Due to her world ranking among the top 20, Wang Yuegu qualified for the first time in 2008 for participation in the Olympic Games . Here she failed in the individual to Wu Xue (Dominican Republic), in the team competition she won silver behind China. In 2012 she also qualified her world ranking position for the Olympic Games. This time she reached the quarter-finals in the singles, with the team she won bronze. After these Olympics, she ended her active career as a competitive athlete.
