Table tennis world championship 2010

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 55th table tennis world championship for teams took place from May 23rd to 30th, 2010 in Moscow . The venue was the Olimpijski sports complex with a capacity of 30,000 .

Overview

China defended the men's title with a final victory over Germany. Singapore won the women's final against China. Before that, the Chinese women had last lost a team fight at a World Cup in 1991 (against all of Korea) and before that in 1973 (against South Korea). Germany's women reached the semi-finals and thus won bronze, the first medal since 1997 . With this result, Germany was the most successful European nation.

111 national associations were represented and provided 109 men's and 81 women's teams.

Competition mode

The mode of delivery is exactly the same as at the last World Cup . 24 teams compete against each other in four groups. The first in the group goes to the quarter-finals, the second to the second round.

In the following tables the total points (column "Points") are calculated according to the following scheme: A win counts 2 points, for a defeat there is one point.
