Jörg Bitzigeio

Jörg Bitzigeio (born December 19, 1976 in Andernach ) is a German table tennis player and trainer. From 2006 to February 2012 he was the national coach of the German women's table tennis team .

Active player

Bitzigeio played from the beginning of the 1990s to 2006 in the second division , first with TVB Nassau, later until 2000 with WTTF Ramstein. After an interlude at TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt from 2000 to 2003 , he returned to WTTF Ramstein. In the 2006/07 season he played with DT Dudelange in the first division of Luxembourg, then he joined the regional division TSV Besse, and in 2011 he moved to ASV Wuppertal .

The year 2004 was successful when he finished third in the German mixed championship with Jie Schöpp . In the same year he won the German university championships in doubles and mixed, in singles he reached the final.

Trainer

Since 1995 Bitzigeio acted as a coach, initially for the team of the TTF Ramstein, in which he also played himself. In 2003 he acquired the A license for coaches. At the beginning of 2005 he became an honorary trainer for the German Table Tennis Association DTTB . After Tobias Beck left , he became his successor on January 1, 2006 as the national coach of the German women's national team. Under his leadership, Wu Jiaduo became European champion in 2009 , and the women's team won bronze at the 2010 World Cup . In February 2012, he resigned as national coach due to differences of opinion with the team members, his successor was Jie Schöpp . Until July 2015 he worked in the junior division at the German Table Tennis Center in Düsseldorf, after which he separated from the DTTB - after differences. An obligation as a trainer and manager at the TTC Grenzau in February 2016 was canceled after a few days.

In May 2016 Jörg Bitzigeio took over responsibility for planning training and further education for trainers at the German Canoe Association . From July 2017 to August 2019 he was the Sports Director (High Performance Director) of USA Table Tennis (USATT), the table tennis association of the United States of America.

Private

Bitzigeio studied business administration and sport at the German Sport University Cologne and graduated with a diploma in 2010. He has been married since 2007 and has a son and a daughter. He lived in Breitscheid (Ratingen) until 2017 . Since July 2017 he has been living with his family in Colorado Springs USA.
