Kaii Yoshida ( Japanese 吉田 海 偉 , Yoshida Kaii ; born May 16, 1981 in Xinji , People's Republic of China as Song Haiwei ( Chinese  宋海偉 )) is a Sino - Japanese table tennis player . At world championships he won bronze twice in team competition.

Career

Song Haiwei started playing table tennis at the age of seven under the guidance of trainer Liu Wenqing. At the age of 15 he moved to Japan and attended the Yamada Middle and High School in Aomori , which has been winning the Interhigh School Championships almost consistently since 1997. In March 2004, he was naturalized and, following his sports teacher Yasuo Yoshida, took the Japanese surname Yoshida at this school, while he kept the spelling of his Chinese first name, but it is read in Japanese as Kaii.

Since then he has performed internationally under the Japanese flag. In 2004 and 2005 he was Japanese national singles champion . From 2005 to 2010 he was nominated five times for participation in world championships , where he finished third with the team in 2008 and 2010 . At the Asian Championships, he reached the final in team competition in 2007 and 2009.

For some time he played in France for the Saint-Denis US 93 TT club

Kaii Yoshida is married to the Japanese national table tennis player An Konishi .
