Aomori ( Japanese , - shi , dt. "City of the blue / green forest") is a large city , a seaport and administrative seat of the prefecture of the same name Aomori on the northern tip of Honshū , the main island of Japan . Aomori is located on the Aomori Bay .
Logging and fishing are the defining economic factors of Aomori.
history
Before the Edo period , the village of Utō ( 善 知 鳥 村 , -mura ) was located here . At the behest of Hirosaki's daimyo , Tsugaru Nobuhiro , a port is opened and the village's Emishi name is changed to Japanese Aomori. Some historians suggest that the village of Utō existed until the late 18th century when it became part of Aomori.
He was appointed Machi on April 1, 1889 and Shi on April 1, 1898.
During the Second World War , the city was bombed with napalm bombs on May 28, 1945 by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) . The attack destroyed around 88% of the urban area and killed 1,016. The attack burned 18,045 buildings in the city. (see air raids on Japan )
