Marco Schulze (born July 7, 1977 in Berlin ) is a former German professional boxer .

Career

Marco Schulze made his professional debut on April 20, 2002 and remained undefeated in his first 15 fights. In October 2003 he won the German championship title in light middleweight by an early win against Danny Thiele and also defended it early against Norman Schuster .

In April 2005 he secured the IBF international title in the light middleweight division with a TKo victory against the Belgian Douglas Bellini, but lost it in the first defense of the title on points to the Hungarian László Burányi. In October 2005 Schulze won the title back through a TKo victory over the Austrian Gotthard Hinteregger , but had to surrender the title to Humberto Aranda from Costa Rica in what was also the first defense fight after a point defeat.

In November 2006 he won the title again, this time by knocking out Ramadhan Miyeyusho from Tanzania. In May 2007 he also won the German championship again by winning points against Turgay Uzun .

In April 2008 he lost in the fight for the WBO intercontinental middleweight title on points against Sebastian Zbik , and in November 2009 also on points against Thomas Troelenberg . His only premature defeat he suffered in April 2010 by giving up against the Ukrainian Max Bursak in the renewed fight for the WBO intercontinental title.

On October 15, 2011, he defeated Omar Siala in Velten prematurely and was thereby title holder of the associations WBU and GBU in the light middleweight division. After a subsequent defeat to the Czech Bronislav Kubín, he won the rematch and thus the GBU super middleweight title on June 22, 2013. This was also his last professional fight.

Marco Schulze is a trained tiler and was trained as a boxer by Werner Papke , Torsten Schmitz , Dieter Donath and Hartmut Schröder, among others . He lives in Velten with his girlfriend and two children .

He sits for the AfD in the Velten city parliament and in the Oberhavel district council .
