Norman Schuster (born December 13, 1979 in Halle ) is a former German boxer.

Amateur career

Norman Schuster started boxing at BSG Halle in 1989 and moved to ESG Halle in 1990. He won 171 of 198 fights, was German junior champion in 1996 and 1997, German runner-up in 1997, and German lightweight champion in 1998 and 1999. In the finals he defeated Guido Ringmann (1998) and Kay Huste (1999). With the 1. BC Magdeburg he also won the German team championship in 1998 and 1999.

In 1999 and 2000 he won the Chemistry Cup in lightweight, and in 2002 the chemical Cup in light welterweight. At the final in 1999 he again defeated Kay Huste , and in 2000 the Armenian Artur Geworkjan. In 2002 he prevailed against Wladimir Kolesnik from Ukraine, Estenio Gutiérrez from Cuba and Boris Georgiew from Bulgaria. At the chemistry cup tournaments in 2001 and 2003 he won bronze after he was eliminated in the semi-finals just after auxiliary points against Dmitri Pavlutschenko from Russia (14:14) and Lorenzo Aragón from Cuba (13:13).

In June 1997 he took part in the Junior European Championships in Birmingham , where he reached 5th place in featherweight. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals against English local hero Stephen Burke. At the Goodwill Games 1998 in New York City he was also defeated in the quarterfinals against the Russian Alexander Leonow.

At the 1999 World Championships in Houston , he came in the lightweight against Ruslan Musinow from Kazakhstan and Tümentsetsegiin Üitümen from Mongolia in the quarter-finals, where he had to admit defeat to the Romanian Gheorghe Lungu. He achieved his greatest success at the European Championships in Tampere in 2000 , when he moved into the semi-finals by winning against Artur Geworkjan from Armenia and Rafał Sikora from Poland, losing there against the Croatian Filip Palić and thus winning the bronze medal in the lightweight.

In September 2000 he started at the Summer Olympics in Sydney , where he was defeated by Patrick López from Venezuela in the preliminary round. Even at the EU Championships in Strasbourg in 2003 , he remained medalless after he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Donatas Bondorovas from Lithuania.

He achieved other successes with second place at the 1st Brandenburg Cup in Germany in 1996, first place at the 5th Bratislava Grand Prix in Slovakia in 1996 and second place at the 28th Golden Belt tournament in Romania in 1999.

Professional career

The approximately 1.72 m tall left-hand boom turned professional under Sport Events Steinforth (SES) in 2004 and won his first fight on February 21 of the same year on points against Artur Mulinow. After four more victories, he boxed on October 16, 2004 in Halle against Marco Schulze for the German light middleweight championship, but lost by knockout in the sixth round.

After four consecutive victories, he fought on August 19, 2006 in Halle for the German welterweight championship and won it unanimously on points against Turgay Uzun . He also remained unbeaten in his next four duels, including defending his title by knocking out Mike Reissmann in the first round and also defeating the Austrian Gotthard Hinteregger by knocking out in the sixth round.

Then he boxed on May 10, 2008 for the Intercontinental Championship of the WBO , but lost it by tKo in the sixth round against Christian Bladt from Denmark. After two more fights, he finished his career in June 2009 with a score of 16-2.

After his active career, he emigrated to Switzerland and founded a boxing academy there.

He has lived in Switzerland since 2010 and is married. In 2010 a son was born.
