The Sportgymnasium Schwerin is a grammar school in Schwerin . Its profile is that of a sports high school recognized by the German Olympic Sports Confederation as an elite sports school.
history
The school emerged from a children's and youth sports school , which was founded in the GDR for the training of talented children and young people.
Sports
The sports of boxing , football , judo , athletics , swimming , rowing , gymnastics / sports acrobatics , rhythmic gymnastics, volleyball , fencing , tennis , canoeing , sailing and handball are all trained at the Schwerin sports high school . A viewing and aptitude test are required for admission; in the sixth grade, a sporting report is drawn up on the students. The sports teachers / trainers maintain close contact with the national trainers of the professional association.
The Sportgymnasium Schwerin is regularly very successful in the youth training for the Olympics competition .
Boarding school
A boarding school is attached to the school and has around 100 students. An old prefabricated building was demolished in 2009 and replaced by a modern new building that opened in autumn 2009.
