Cedric Vitu (* 18th August 1985 in Creil ) is a French professional boxer in the light middleweight .

Career

After the elimination against Xavier Noël at the French amateur championships in January 2005, he moved to the professional camp in December 2005. After 18 victorious fights and winning the Tournoi de France (France tournament), he lost for the first time in May 2008 against Hamlet Petrosyan (26-5) by majority decision. The fight was for the IBF intercontinental championship .

In April 2009 he won the WBC Mediterranean Championship by knocking out Gogi Knežević (14-1). In March 2010 he won the French championship and defended it against Christophe Canclaux (41-4), among others. He won the EU title in June 2011 with an early win against the Finn Kai Kauramaki (18-16).

In November 2012 he boxed for the first time for the European Championship of the EBU , but lost by split points against the Belarusian Sergey Rabchenko (21-0). He finally won the title in June 2015 with a TKO win against Orlando Fiordigiglio (21-0). In December of the same year he won his first title defense on points against the Spaniard Roberto Santos (23-7). In March 2016 he beat Rubén Varón (43-8) by TKO in the fourth round. In January 2017 he won against Isaac Real (16-1). In May 2017 he won the IBF semi-finals against Marcello Matano (17-2).

On March 10, 2018, he boxed for the WBA world championship in light middleweight, but lost the fight by TKO in the twelfth round against Brian Castaño . Vitu was ranked 12th in its world challenger rankings by the WBA in February 2018.

In November 2019 he lost to his compatriot Michel Soro (35-2).
