Non Boonjumnong

Non Boonjumnong ( Thai น น บุญ จำนงค์ ; born June 12, 1982 in Ratchaburi as Manon Boonjumnong ) is a former Thai welterweight boxer . He was Asian champion in 2002, vice military world champion in 2005 and vice world champion in 2007.

He is the younger brother of Olympic champion Manus Boonjumnong .

Boxing career

Boonjumnong was around 1.83 m tall during his competitive career and boxed exclusively in welterweight (up to 69 kg). He won the Southeast Asian Games in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007 , and the 2002 Asian Championships in Seremban . He also won the bronze medal at the Asian Games in Busan in 2002 .

At the 12th World Championships in Bangkok in 2003 , he won against Leonard Bundi from Italy (knockout) and Mirosław Nowosada from Poland (21:13) before losing to the Cuban Lorenzo Aragón prematurely in the quarter-finals . At the 49th Military World Championships in Pretoria in 2005 , he won the silver medal. He prevailed against T. Tiryaki from Turkey 47:22, Azamat Makazhanov from Kazakhstan 20:12, Boyd Melson from the USA 16:15 and Ellis Chibuye from Zambia 30:22, before he was very close against Henry in the final Coyle from Ireland +26: 26 lost.

He also achieved the runner-up title at the 14th World Championships in Chicago in 2007 . After victories against Jorge Suárez from Mexico 23:10, Aliasker Bashirov from Turkmenistan 28:10, the reigning European champion Andrei Balanow from Russia 16:12, Adam Trupish from Canada 25:17 and Qanat Ïsläm from China 23:20, he only lost in Final against the American Demetrius Andrade .

In 2008 he represented Thailand at the 29th Summer Olympics in Beijing , where he was defeated by the Egyptian Hosam Bakr Abdin with 10:11 in the preliminary round .

He achieved further international success by winning the Copenhagen Cup in 2001 in Denmark and triple win (2001, 2004, 2005) of the King's Cup in Thailand.
