Ädilbek Säbituly Nijasymbetow ( Kazakh Әділбек Сәбитұлы Ниязымбетов , Russian Адильбек Сабитович Ниязымбетов / Adilbek Sabitowitsch Nijasymbetow * 19th May 1989 in Nukus , Karakalpakische ASSR , Uzbek SSR , USSR ) is a Kazakh boxer in the light heavyweight division (-81 kg).

Career

Ädilbek Nijasymbetow is around 1.82 m tall, southpaw and started boxing in 2000. He won the gold medal in the light welterweight division at the Asian Junior Championships in 2007 and was eliminated from the 2009 Asian Championships in the quarter-finals of the middleweight division against Vijender Kumar . In 2010, he won a bronze middleweight medal at the World University Championships .

He then rose to the light heavyweight division and was able to fight for the silver medal at the 2011 World Championships in Baku , after losing to Julio César La Cruz in the final. Previously, he had defeated Vladimir Cheles, Kim Hyeong-kyu , Jeysson Monroy, Meng Fanlong and Elshod Rasulov . With this success he qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London . With wins against Carlos Góngora , Ehsan Rouzbahani and Oleksandr Hwosdyk , as well as a narrow defeat in the final with 15: 15+ against Yegor Mechonzew , he won the silver medal again.

In 2013 he won the silver medal at the Asian Championships and the World Championships in Almaty . He lost it in the final bouts both times with 1: 2 against Oybek Mamazulunov and Julio César La Cruz.

In 2014 he won the Asian Games and in 2015 the Asian Championships. He beat Kim Hyeong-kyu, Ehsan Rouzbahani and Elshod Rasulov, among others. He was qualified for the 2015 World Championships in Doha , where he was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Elshod Rasulov.

In 2016 he qualified in the Asian eliminations for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . With victories against Michail Dauhaljawez , Teymur Məmmədov and Joshua Buatsi he reached the final, where he again lost to Julio César La Cruz and won his second Olympic silver medal.
