Carlos Andrés Mina Caicedo (born April 30, 1992 in Guayaquil , Ecuador ) is an Ecuadorian amateur boxer in the light heavyweight division (up to 81 kilos).

Career

The 1.87 m tall left-hand boom won the 2013 Bolivarian Games with a final win over Juan Carrillo . From January to May 2015 he boxed for the Mexico Guerreros team in the World Series of Boxing and achieved three wins and two losses, including a win against Julio César La Cruz on April 10, 2015 . He then appeared in June 2015 by winning qualification for the 2015 Pan American Games when he defeated Osman Bravo, Adrian Biscette, Rogelio Romero and again Juan Carrillo. At the games themselves, he was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Julio César La Cruz. He was also subject to this in the quarter-finals at the Pan American Championships in 2015, having previously defeated Michel Borges in the second round .

In March 2016 he won the American Olympic qualification against Osman Bravo, Petru Bulun, Juan Carrillo and Albert Ramírez and started at the 2016 Olympic Games , where he fought his way to the quarter-finals against Serge Michel and Joe Ward and was eliminated from Mathieu Bauderlique .

At the Pan American Championships in 2017 , he reached the final with wins against Michel Borges and Rogelio Romero, where he was again defeated by Julio César La Cruz. By winning the silver medal, he qualified for the 2017 World Championships , where he fought his way to the semifinals against Damir Plantić and Schabbos Negmatullojew, where he was eliminated with a bronze medal against Julio César La Cruz.

In addition, he has so far won international tournaments in Bulgaria, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Serbia and Belarus. He also managed a victory against the European and world champion Oleksandr Chyschnjak .
