Dmitry Yuryevich Biwol ( Russian Дмитрий Юрьевич Бивол * 18th December 1990 in Tokmok , Kyrgyzstan ) is a Russian boxer in light heavyweight . Among other things, he is a former WBC United States Silver Champion (USNBC) as well as WBA Inter-Continental Champion and current WBA World Champion.

Bivol signed a contract with Eddie Hearn and DAZN in January 2019 .

Amateur career

Biwol started boxing at the age of 6.

At the age of 17, the powerful standard boom took part in the youth world championships in Guadalajara, Mexico's second largest city, in 2008 . There, the 1.83 meter tall Biwol defeated the Colombian Jeisson Gantiva 8-0 in the preliminary round, the Slovenian Andrej Bakovic 17-0 in the round of 16 , and the Mexican Luis Paul Huazano 21-2 in the quarterfinals on points before he himself in the semifinals the Cuban Rey Eduardo Recio had to be beaten 10: 2 on points and thus won the bronze medal .

Professional career

Bivol made his professional debut at the end of November 2014 in the Luschniki Olympic Stadium in Moscow when he defeated Jorge Rodriguez Olivera with a technical knockout in round 4.

In April of the following year Biwol won over his compatriot Konstantin Piternov (18-6-0) in a 6-round battle by TKo in the 3rd round. On August 27 of the same year, already in his 4th fight, Bivol secured the vacant United States Silver with a classic knockout win in the 8th and final round against Felipe Romero (19-8-1) Title (USNBC) of the WBC.

In the Russian Kazan he fought against the Brazilian Jackson Junior (19-4-0) in November of the same year for the Inter-Continental Title according to the WBA version.

On May 21, 2016 Biwol met the previously undefeated Felix Valera (13-0-0). This fight was about the WBA - Interim World Championship . Biwol easily drove in a clear, unanimous victory on points. In 2017 he defended this belt against Robert Berridge (29-5-1) and Samuel Clarkson (19-3-0) each with a technical knockout in round 4 and defeated the American Cedric Agnew (29-8) in a 10-round non-title fight. 2-0) also by TKo in the 4th round.

On October 11, 2017, Biwol was awarded full World Champion status by the WBA.

Biwol defended his title against the Australian Trent Broadhurst for the first time in November 2017 in the Sporting Monte-Carlo building complex in Monaco with a spectacular knockout in the first round.

This was followed in the following year by defending his title against Sullivan Barrera (whom he knocked out in the 12th round), Isaac Chilemba and Jean Pascal (both of whom he defeated on points).
