World Combat Games

The World Combat Games are an international sporting event for martial arts. It is organized by Sportaccord . The first event took place in Beijing in 2010, the second in Saint Petersburg in 2013 . Due to the dissolution of SportAccord, the successor organization, the Global Association of International Sports Federations, signed corresponding contracts in autumn 2017 to support the III. To host Games in Taipei in 2019 ; However, it turned out that the organization of such an event was not feasible in the given timeframe, so that the event was postponed to 2021.

The program currently includes the following sports: aikido , boxing , fencing , judo , jiu jitsu , karate , kendo , kickboxing , muay thai , wrestling , sambo , savate , sumo , taekwondo and wushu . The rules are laid down by the international professional associations.

Beijing 2010

The first edition of the games took place from August 28 to September 4, 2010 in Beijing. 1108 participants fought for 136 gold medals in the martial arts boxing, judo, ju-jitsu, karate, kendo, kickboxing, muay thai, sambo, sumo, taekwondo, wrestling and wushu. Russia won the most gold medals (18), followed by China (15) and Ukraine and France (7 each).

Saint Petersburg 2013

The competitions were held from October 18 to 26, 2013. Medals were awarded in 135 competitions. Athletes from 96 countries took part. Russia leads the medal table with 47 gold medals, followed by France (12) and Japan (11). The following competitions were held:
