The Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF, until 1998 International Ju-Jitsu Federation / IJJF) is the international umbrella organization of the individual national associations in Jiu-Jitsu . She is a member of the Sportaccord and the International World Games Association . The umbrella organization is based in Switzerland.

aims

The Ju-Jitsu International Federation represents the martial art Jiu-Jitsu . She makes no distinction between the individual styles, but tries to represent the sport in its entirety. It also lays down the rules for the various championships in Jiu-Jitsu: the duo competitions, international Jiu Jitsu fighting and Ne-Waza (also known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ).

history

In 1977 the Ju-Jitsu European Union (EJJF) was founded on the initiative of the European countries Germany , Italy and Sweden . By 1987 all European countries became members of the EJJF. Since the EJJF had been dealing with the international issues of the Jiu-Jitsu sport for a long time, the desire for an international umbrella organization was expressed. In 1987 the International Ju-Jitsu Federation was founded. The EJJF remained the European umbrella organization and separate umbrella organizations were founded on the other continents.

In 1993 the umbrella organization received recognition from the General Association of International Sports Federations (today: Sportaccord) and in 1994 from the International World Games Association (IWGA). In 1997, Jiu-Jitsu was first represented at the World Games . In 1998 the association was renamed the Ju-Jitsu International Federation.

structure

The JJIF consists of three parts: the General Assembly ( Congress ), the Board of Directors and the Committees . The general assembly is the highest assembly of the organization and consists of the individual delegates from the countries. It is held annually, every four years after the Summer Olympics and whenever necessary. Only there, changes to the structure and the rules can be decided.

The board consists of the president and three vice-presidents, secretary general and deputy, treasurer, two technical managers, the presidents of the continental associations and two assessors.
