Odintsovo ( Russian Одинцо́во ) is a district town in Russia , in the Moscow Oblast with 138,930 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). It is located six kilometers west of the Moscow city ​​limits , near the M1 trunk road and on the Moscow – MinskWarsaw railway line .

history

The village of Odintsovo has been known since 1470. The expansion of the Moscow – Smolensk railway , which began in 1870, helped the town to flourish, which continued thanks to its popularity as a recreational area for the Moscow population. In the following years Odintsovo became a popular residential suburb of the capital. In 1957 he was granted city rights.
