Pushchino ( Russian Пущино ) is a town with 20,332 inhabitants (14 October 2010) in Russia in the Moscow Oblast , about 120 kilometers south of Moscow .
geography
Pushchino is located on the Oka River and is visited by many Muscovites, especially in summer, who use their weekend properties or find a retreat from the big city in their apartments. The relatively clean air and very low crime rate increase the attractiveness of the town and have recently led to increased construction activity.
The closest major city is Serpuchow a good 15 kilometers as the crow flies northwest of Pushchino on the opposite bank of the Oka.
history
Pushchino was founded in 1964 when a radio telescope was being built. About a quarter of the inhabitants of the 'Science City' are scientists. In addition to other basic research institutes , such as B. on microbiology , a soil science institute is also represented. Several research institutions in Pushchino belong to the Russian Academy of Sciences . Due to the relatively young history of Pushchino, most of the buildings are prefabricated .

Public transport is carried out exclusively by omnibus lines and marshrutkas . There is a bus station that is served by all buses. Several times a day there are connections to Serpukhov and Moscow, where there are connections to other buses, electric cars and the Moscow Metro . The Moscow ring road MKAD is about 80 km away from Pushchino, there is also an access road to the "Krim" highway near Pushchino .
