Lotoschino ( Russian Лотошино́ ) is an urban-type settlement in the Moscow Oblast in Russia with 5558 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

Lotus Chino is located about 130 km in a straight line to the northwest of Oblastverwaltungszentrums Moscow at the praise, a right tributary of the Volga -Zuflusses Shosha .

Lotoschino is the administrative center of the Lotoschinsky Rajons and the seat of the borough (gorodskoje posselenije) Lotoschino, to which another 42 villages and rural settlements belong. Located in the far northwest of the oblast, Lotoschino is by far the smallest Rajon center.

history

Lotoschino was first mentioned in a chronicle in 1478 as a village belonging to the Grand Duchy of Tver . It was already an important trading village in the 16th century, but then only developed slowly.

On March 19, 1919 Lotoschino became the administrative seat of a Volost des Ujezds Wolokolamsk in the Moscow governorate , and in July 1929 the administrative seat of the newly created Rajons named after him.

During the Second World War Lotoschino was occupied by the German Wehrmacht on October 13, 1941 and recaptured by the Red Army on January 16, 1942 during their counter-offensive in the course of the Battle of Moscow .

In 1951 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement.

Lotus Chino is located on the of Tver coming regional road (46K-1121 on the territory of Lotoschinski rayon), the further south across Shakhovskaya according Uwarowka leads. In Shachowskaya, about 25 km away, there is a connection to the federal trunk road M9 Baltija Moscow - Velikiye Luki  - Latvian border. The nearest train station on the Moscow - Riga route is also located there .

From Lotoschino to the east, the regional road 46K-9251 leads through the northern part of the neighboring Wolokolamski rajon (with a branch to Wolokolamsk on the M9, the shortest connection to Moscow) on to Klin .
