The settlement is about 40 km as the crow north of the center of the Russian capital - both of Oblastverwaltungszentrums - Moscow and 20 km from the Moscow ring road away, on the upper reaches of the left Klyazma -Nebenflusses Utscha.

The settlement is the center of the municipality of the same name (gorodskoje posselenije) , to which the two western villages Gorki Sucharewskije (immediately adjacent) and Samorjadowo (about 3 km away) belong.

history

The settlement was created in connection with the establishment of a ceramic factory by the Moscow industrialist Lev Katuar (Catoire) at the end of the 19th century. He was also one of the supporters of the railway construction from Moscow in a northerly direction, initially to Dmitrov. The line was opened on this section in 1900, a year later the Katuar station at the ceramic factory and the associated settlement.

Between 1929 and 1933 the ceramics factory was expanded and the manufacture of tiles began. By resolution of December 31, 1953, the settlement was given its current name in honor of the Russian poet Nikolai Nekrasov , and in 1954 the status of an urban-type settlement.
