history

The bell tower of the Resurrection Cathedral in Pavlovsky Posad

The place emerged as the village of Pavlovo as early as 1328. In the 18th century, the textile industry developed here, which over the decades had made a name for itself outside the village. This led to a brisk economic boom through trade in the products produced here. In 1844 Pavlovo merged with some neighboring villages to form one place. This was also awarded the status of a city within the Moscow governorate. The new name Pavlovsky Posad meant something like Pavlovo suburb . By the beginning of the 20th century, the city grew to include more industrial companies, most of which were textile factories. The shawls and scarves produced in Pawlowski Possad still enjoy a good reputation today.

Economy and Transport

The textile industry still dominates the city's economic life today. The best-known company is the Pavlov-Possad cloth factory, which emerged from the silk cloth factory founded by farmer Iwan Labsin in 1795. There is also a brick factory, a food factory and several other smaller factories in Pavlovsky Posad. Even if agriculture is mainly practiced in the area around the city, industry is increasingly settling here (e.g. another BASF Coatings site ).

The city has a train station where local trains from and to Moscow ( Kursk train station ) and Vladimir stop.
