history
In a document from 1328 there is a first mention of the area called Ramenje , which at that time meant something like "edge of the forest". However, the actual development of today's city must have started in the 1760s, when the village of Troitskoye was built in this area . This was later renamed after the original name Ramenje in Ramenskoje , so "place in Ramenje". In the 18th century an extensive estate was built in Troitskoye, which at that time belonged to the Volkonsky dynasty .
In the early 19th century, Ramenskoye became the headquarters of one of the first cotton mills in the greater Moscow area. This factory was donated by representatives of the Galitzins family and was already one of the largest of its kind in Russia in the 1870s. Further industries emerged in Ramenskoye from the middle of the 19th century after the laying of the Moscow – Ryazan railway line .
On March 15, 1926, the Ramenskoye factory estate was granted city rights. Three years later, it became the administrative center of the raion of the same name in Moscow Oblast.
