The FK Anzhi Makhachkala ( Russian Футбольный Клуб Анжи Махачкала / Futbolny club FC Anzhi Makhachkala ) is established in 1991 a Russian football club from Makhachkala , capital of Dagestan , that of 2010 by 2014 the Premjer league played. After relegation in 2014, Anzhi Makhachkala achieved immediate promotion back to the Russian football club in 2015.

history

As early as 1991, when the club was founded, qualified as the Dagestani republic champion for the second Russian division (third division). In 1996 the team rose to the first Russian division (second division). After another three years, the team became champions of the league and rose to the top Russian league . In the first year in the Premjer League , the club managed directly to fourth place and thus qualification for the 2001/02 UEFA Cup . Due to the precarious security situation due to the proximity to the crisis republic of Chechnya , UEFA decided that instead of the usual two-way leg, a single game should be played on a neutral pitch; this was lost in Warsaw against the Glasgow Rangers 0-1. Also in 2001 the club was in the final of the Russian Cup, which was lost 3: 4 on penalties to Lokomotiv Moscow . After the 2002 season , however, the club rose again. The 2009 season ended the team in first place in the 1st division and thus managed to climb again into the Russian elite class.

Acquisition and investment

In January 2011, Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov took over the club. After Roberto Carlos was signed for a free transfer by Corinthians Paulista in early 2011 , Inter Milan signed Samuel Eto'o for around 27 million euros in August 2011 . On February 17, 2012, the well-known Dutch coach Guus Hiddink was signed as head coach.

As fifth placed in the Russian league in 2011/12 , Anschi qualified for the Europa League . There the club faced Honvéd Budapest on July 19 and 26, 2012 . However, UEFA banned the club from playing the home game in the Makhachkala stadium, citing the security situation in the North Caucasus . As a substitute venue, the club therefore chose Ramenskoye, a two-hour flight away near Moscow , where the team also has their permanent home and training location . Anschi won the first and second leg 1-0 and 4-0 respectively. In the third qualifying round, Anschi prevailed with two 2-0 wins against Vitesse Arnheim , then met AZ Alkmaar in the play-offs for the group stage and prevailed 1-0 and 5-0. In the second round of the Europa League, Anschi beat Hannover 96 3-1 in the home game (which was again played in Moscow) and scored 1-1 in the second leg on February 21, 2013. This moved the team into the round of 16. There Anschi met Newcastle United , played 0-0 at home (in front of 5,000 spectators), then 0-1 away (in front of 45,000 spectators, goalscorer: Papiss Demba Cissé (90th + 4 minutes)) and was eliminated. In the domestic league , the most successful season so far was played when 3rd place in the championship was won.

Lowering the player budget

Head coach Guus Hiddink resigned before the 2013/14 season . As his successor, Gadschi Gadschijew , who had already trained Anhi from April 2010 to September 2011, was signed by league competitor Krylja Sowetow Samara . The most prominent newcomers were the Russian national players Alexander Kokorin (from Dynamo Moscow , approx. 19 million euros transfer fee), Igor Denissow ( Zenit St. Petersburg , approx. 15 million euros) and Alexei Ionow ( FK Kuban Krasnodar , approx. 5 million euros) . Euro). In addition, Christopher Samba , who had only moved to the Queens Park Rangers in January , was bought back for 11-12 million euros after they were relegated to the 2nd division, which strengthened the team with a good 50 million euros. At the beginning of August, the club announced that many expensive players would be leaving the club in order to reduce the player budget by 50 to 70 million US dollars and that they would increasingly rely on youth players in the future. Officially, the lack of success since 2011 and was Financial Fair Play of the UEFA indicated for the realignment. In addition, club owner Suleiman Kerimov is suspected of having financial difficulties , whose shares in the Uralkali company had collapsed by up to a quarter. Oleg Shatov was the first player to be handed over to Zenit St. Petersburg. This was followed by sales of Alexander Kokorin, Igor Denissow, Christopher Samba and Alexei Ionow, who had only recently been signed up, as well as Juri Schirkow and Vladimir Gabulow to Dynamo Moscow. In addition, Mbark Boussoufa , Lassana Diarra , Arseni Logaschow (all of Lokomotiv Moscow ), João Carlos ( Spartak Moscow ), Willian , Samuel Eto'o (both Chelsea FC ) and Mehdi Carcela-González ( Standard Liège ) left the club.

Despite numerous well-known departures, the newly formed team managed to survive the group stage of the Europa League and even defeat KRC Genk in the round of 32. In the next round of 16, Anschi met AZ Alkmaar , lost 1-0 away and then played 0-0 at home. Thus, the Dagestani club was eliminated from the competition. In the Premjer League, the team could not hold up and rose as bottom of the table again in the second-class 1st division. On the last day of the 2014/15 season, Anzhi Makhachkala secured promotion to the Russian football club. In the 2015/16 season , the club saved itself to 13th place in the table (relegation place). In the relegation, FK Anzhi met Volgar Astrakhan and secured relegation after two wins. In the summer of 2016, the Czech Pavel Vrba took over the post of head coach at Anschi.

In December 2016, the previous owner Kerimov sold the club to the Dagestani businessman Osman Kadiev . After this step, the coach Pavel Vrba and his assistant coach Dušan Fitzel and goalkeeping coach Martin Ticháček were dismissed due to financial difficulties and replaced by Alexander Grigorjan from the SKA-Energija Khabarovsk from the 1st division.

Venue

From 1991 to 2003 and from 2006 to March 2013 Anhi Makhachkala played his home games at the Dinamo Stadium , which was built in 1927 and opened on May 31 of the same year. In March 2013, the team moved to the modernized Anschi-Arena , which was expanded to 30,000 spectators, and where home games were held from 2003 to 2006.
