Lukman Abdulkarim Haruna (born December 4, 1990 in Jos ) is a Nigerian football player .

Career

Haruna already demonstrated his skills as a midfield director in 2007 when he led the Nigerian U-17 national team to the world title as captain after winning the African Championship.

Then international top clubs contacted him and in early 2008 he moved to the French first division to AS Monaco . On January 9, 2008, at the age of 18, he played his first full international match for Nigeria. In the second half of the 2008/09 season he was used four times for the Monegasque.

The U-20 World Cup in 2009 was then unhappy for Haruna: After a red card suspension, he missed the preliminary rounds and on his return, his team was narrowly eliminated against Germany. On the other hand, his club career was more successful, where he became a regular player in the central midfield position despite his young age and made 23 appearances.

Lukman Haruna was next to the youth teams also repeatedly used in the senior national team of Nigeria and was also included in the African squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa after top player John Obi Mikel had to withdraw injured. This makes him the first player in his country to have been in the squad at all world championships, from the U-17s to the seniors.
