Sergei Igorewitsch Dmitrijew ( Russian Сергей Игоревич Дмитриев , born March 19, 1964 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian football player and current coach . Since 2009 he has been an assistant coach at FK Saturn II Moskowskaja Oblast, the amateur team of the Russian Premier League club Saturn Ramenskoje .

Career

Dmitriev began his career at Smena Leningrad and continued it at Dynamo Leningrad . Until 1981 he played in the youth teams of the club before he was accepted into the squad of the professional team. In 1982 he became a member of the amateur team of Zenit Leningrad . Just a year later, in 1983, he was promoted to the professional squad. He remained loyal to this for seven years until he received an offer from FK Dynamo Moscow in 1989 , which he also accepted. After only half a year, he went to city rivals CSKA Moscow in July 1989 , with whom he was under contract until the beginning of 1991.
At that time, Dmitriev received an offer from Spain from Deportivo Xerez . However, he stayed there for only half a year, in July 1991 he returned to CSKA Moscow. In the first half of the 1990s Dmitriev changed the club several times and in quick succession. In January 1992 he went to Austria to the now defunct FC Stahl Linz , in July 1992 to Germany to VfL Bochum , in July 1993 to Switzerland to FC St. Gallen and in January 1994 to Israel to Hapoel Ashkelon . He was never used there, and so after a year he returned to his home country.
In Russia he was again under contract with Zenit Saint Petersburg before he moved to FK Tyumen in Siberia two years later, in early 1997 . In July 1997, Dmitriev went to Spartak Moscow , in January 1998 to FK Dynamo Saint Petersburg , in July 1999 to Kristall Smolensk , shortly afterwards again to Dynamo Saint Petersburg and most recently, in 2000, to Swetogorez Swetogorsk . With this club he ended his active career in 2003.

International

In total, Dmitriev played six games for the national football team of the USSR . On February 2, 1985, he scored his only goal for the USSR in a friendly against Morocco . Dmitrijew was also in the USSR squad at the UEFA EURO 1988 in the Federal Republic of Germany , but was not used.

Coaching stations

After the end of his career as a player, Dmitrijew worked as an assistant coach at Swetogorez Swetogorsk and at Dynamo Saint Petersburg. In this function he worked for FK Anzhi Makhachkala in 2004 and 2005 and in 2006 for FK Spartak Nizhny Novgorod .
He took over the position of coach at Dynamo Saint Petersburg in 2007. On April 15, 2007, the Brunei Football Committee announced that Dmitryev would be the new coach for the Brunei National Football Team . He made his debut in May 2008. Dmitriev wanted to strengthen the team spirit and improve technology and strategy. The goal was to qualify for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008. But it didn't get that far. On August 13, 2008, he was replaced by the Croatian Vjeran Simunić as coach of the Brunei national football team. In 2009 he took up the position as assistant coach at FK Saturn II Moskowskaja Oblast, the farm team of Saturn Ramenskoye .
