Oskars Kļava began his career in his hometown Liepāja , in the youth of FK Metalurgs . In the 2002 season , the tall defender made his debut in the Virslīga for the first time . At his home club he stayed under contract for a total of 9 seasons, with it being the most successful time at a club in his career. With two championships won in 2005 and 2009 as well as the cup victory in 2006 and the Baltic League in 2007 , the time ended with the move to Russia in 2010. Oskars Kļava signed a three-year contract with Anzhi Makhachkala from the Russian Premier League . For the new club he made his debut during the already running 2010 season on matchday 17 against CSKA Moscow after he was substituted on for Ali Gadschidekow . In August 2011 he was awarded for six months to the FK Chimki in the second Russian division . Once again he was awarded to his home club in Latvia in order to have minutes of action in the first part of the 2012 season . The expiring contract with the nouveau riche club from Makhachkala around the oligarch Suleiman Abusaidowitsch Kerimow was not extended, so Kļava left the club. In July 2012 he signed a contract with AZAL PFK Baku from the capital of Azerbaijan .

In 2008 he and the team won the 42nd edition of the Baltic Cup .
