Virslīga 2008

The Virsliga 2009 was the 18th season of the highest Latvian football -Spielklasse the men since its founding in 1992. Officially bears the league called LMT Virsliga (Latvijas Mobilais Telefons Virsliga) and the Latvian Football Federation held. The season started on March 14, 2009 and ended on November 8, 2009.

The FK Liepājas Metalurgs became Latvian champions for the second time.

mode

The FC Daugava withdrew for financial reasons before the season starts. The FK Riga merged with JFK Olimps at JFK Olimps / RFS. FK Vindava was dissolved in January 2009. Of the three league places that became vacant, only two were awarded with the promoted FK Daugava Riga and FC Tranzit, so that the league started the season with nine teams this year. They played against each other four times and played a total of 28 season games. The bottom of the table was relegated directly, the penultimate had to be relegated.
