Olimps Riga (officially Jauniešu futbola klubs Olimps / Rīgas Futbola skolu ) is a Latvian football club from the capital Riga .

The name of the club means 'Youth Football Club Olymp / Riga Football School' in German.

history

The club was founded in 2005 because in the top division of the country, the Virslīga , only seven teams were registered. Therefore, a new club was formed with young players from the second teams of Skonto Riga , Metalurgs Liepaja and FK Ventspils , so that the Virslīga could play with eight teams.

Olimps rose at the end of the season as the penultimate, but managed in 2006 as a champion of the 1st līga (second highest division) the immediate promotion.

In 2007, Olimps lost 3-0 to FK Ventspils in the Latvian Cup final . In 2009, JFK Olimps / ASK merged with the Rīgas Futbola skolu football school .

The home ground is the 5683-seat Daugava Stadium ( Daugavas stadions ), coached by the Dutchman Anton Joore since 2008 .
