Career

societies

Velička's career began in his hometown at the Lithuanian football club FBK Kaunas . He spent most of his career here, but was loaned out a few times, for example to the Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in 2002 . Here he played only rarely and was not successful. It returned to Kaunas but was awarded two more times. 2003 to the Kazakh football club Irtysh Pavlodar and 2006 to the Scottish club Heart of Midlothian . At Hearts he was used more often than on his previous loan, making his debut on September 9 against FC St. Mirren . On October 15, he scored his first two goals against Hibernian Edinburgh . In 2008 he finally moved to Viking Stavanger in the Tippeligaen for a transfer fee of one million pounds sterling .

On June 14, 2008, Viking accepted an offer from the Scottish record champions Glasgow Rangers for one million pounds sterling for Velička. Two days later he signed a two-year contract for the Rangers, but joined the team less than a month later during a tour of Germany, as the season in Norway was still running. On July 30, he played his first game for his new club as part of the UEFA Champions League qualification , against his first professional station FBK Kaunas , where he came on in the second half. In his first league game on August 9, he scored the 1-0 winner against FC Falkirk . Despite a good start and a second league game a week later against a former club Heart of Midlothian , Velička had no chance to prevail in Glasgow and only came back to further appearances in April 2009. On April 11, he took the 1-0 lead in a 3-1 home win against Motherwell FC . Just a week later, he met in a 3-2 away win at Hibernian Edinburgh for a 2-1 lead. In the playoffs he again met his old club Heart of Midlothian in a 2-0 victory.

For the 2009/10 season he was awarded a year in August 2009 to the English club Bristol City . For Bristol he made his debut against Queens Park Rangers , where he came on in the 64th minute. But after only a few minutes he had to be carried off the field due to a serious knee injury. The examination revealed a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament and that was the season for Velička.

On August 31, 2010 he was loaned to league rivals FC Aberdeen for a year . He scored his first goal on November 9 against Inverness Caledonian Thistle . On January 31, 2011 it was announced that he had received clearance from Aberdeen and was not a club.

On February 11, he signed a three-year contract with the Lithuanian club Ekranas Panevėžys .

National team

Velička made his debut for the Lithuanian national team on August 16, 1998 , when he came on for Valdas Trakys in the 80th minute of the game against Moldova . Velička played his second game almost four years later, in April 2002 against Yugoslavia . He scored his first international goal in the course of the Baltic Cup on July 3, 2003, in a 5-1 win over Estonia , which made it 3-1. He had to wait for his second international goal until February 12, 2009, when he scored the 1-0 goal in a 3-1 win against Andorra .
