Ewerton (born March 23, 1989 in Penedo , Alagoas ; full name Ewerton José Almeida Santos ) is a Brazilian football player . The central defender is under contract with Hamburger SV .

Career

Beginnings in Brazil

Ewerton played in the youth of SC Corinthians Alagoano . In June 2009 he moved to the U20s of Palmeiras São Paulo on loan until the end of the year . In May 2010, Ewerton moved to the end of the 2010 season on loan to the second division Agremiação Sportiva Arapiraquense ( ASA for short ), for whom he was used 22 times. For the 2011 season he was loaned to Oeste FC , for which he was not used.

Between Portugal and Russia

For the 2011/12 season Ewerton moved to the Portuguese first division club Sporting Braga . He played 18 first division games (all in the starting line-up) and scored one goal. For the 2012/13 season Ewerton moved to the Russian first division club Anzhi Makhachkala . In his first season he only made 7 league appearances. In the 2013/14 season , in which the club was relegated to the 1st division , 12 missions followed in which he scored a goal. In the 2014/15 season , Ewerton made 5 appearances in the second Russian division until the end of January 2015.

In late January 2015 Ewerton returned to Portugal and joined Sporting Lisbon . By the end of the 2014/15 season , he was featured 9 times in the Primeira Liga and scored one goal. He was also used twice in the second team in the second-class Segunda League . With the first team he won the cup at the end of the season and the Supercup in August 2015 after a 1-0 win against Benfica Lisbon . In the 2015/16 season , Ewerton was unable to assert itself sustainably and only made 8 appearances (one goal) in the Primeira Liga.

Via Kaiserslautern to Nuremberg

At the end of August 2016, Ewerton switched to the German second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern on loan until the end of the 2016/17 season . There he established himself as a regular player and was used in 24 second division games (all in the starting line-up).

For the 2017/18 season , Ewerton moved within the 2nd Bundesliga to 1. FC Nürnberg . Under head coach Michael Köllner he was a regular player in central defense and came to 28 second division appearances (26 times in the starting line-up), in which he scored a goal. At the end of the season he was promoted to the Bundesliga with the club . In preparation for the 2018/19 season, Ewerton contracted a syndesmosis and made his comeback at the end of October. After his injury he was part of the regular staff under Köllner and his successor Boris Schommers and played 18 first division games (15 times in the starting line-up). At the end of the season, 1. FC Nürnberg was relegated directly to the 2. Bundesliga.

Hamburger SV

For the 2019/20 season, the 30-year-old Ewerton moved to Hamburger SV , with whom he signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2021. However, he initially fell out with groin problems and torn a syndesmosis ligament at the end of August . In the international break in October Ewerton returned to team training. In the meantime, Rick van Drongelen and Gideon Jung had established themselves in central defense under head coach Dieter Hecking . At the end of November, Ewerton was used in competitive games for the first time: his first substitution in the 2nd Bundesliga on matchday 15 was followed a day later by a full-time game in the second team in the fourth-rate Regionalliga Nord . Ewerton was in the starting line-up alongside Timo Letschert on Matchday 17 and 18 , but injured himself again in his second starting lineup and had to be replaced by van Drongelen in the first half, who from then on formed the central defense with Letschert. After the winter break it initially played no role and was not used. On matchday 24, Ewerton was back in the starting line-up alongside Letschert, but had to be replaced again in the first half due to injury. He pulled a partial tear of the inner ligament in his knee . Since the game time was interrupted after the 25th matchday due to the COVID-19 pandemic , Ewerton initially only missed one game. He returned to team training during the break in the season, but complained of knee ligament problems before the game was resumed in mid-May. In the 1: 5 defeat against SV Sandhausen on matchday 34, when HSV could still have reached 3rd place, Ewerton was available for a game for the first time and moved due to the failures of Letschert and Jordan Beyer joined Jung and van Drongelen in a three-way straight into the starting eleven, but had to be replaced again at half time. Ewerton played a total of 5 second division games (4 times from the start) in which he was used for around 200 minutes.

During the summer break leading up to the 2020/21 season , Ewerton had a benign tumor in the hamstrings removed in the hope that they would have found a reason for his injuries.
