SV Werder Bremen
Hunt made his Bundesliga debut with a seven-minute short stint on September 18, 2004 against Hannover 96 . In his first game from the start, he scored his first Bundesliga goal against Borussia Mönchengladbach on February 12, 2005 , making SV Werder the youngest ever goal scorer at the age of 18 and 161 days. He scored the first double of his career on October 27, 2006 in the 6-1 away win for Bremen at 1. FSV Mainz 05 , the first triple on March 3, 2007 in a 3-0 win against VfL Bochum . On November 27, 2006, he extended his contract, which expired in the summer of 2007, for a further three years until June 30, 2010. After a seven-month break due to injury, Hunt took the third place on November 28, 2007 with his first Champions League goal in the 58th minute : 2 win against Real Madrid at. Hunt won the DFB Cup with SV Werder Bremen in the 2008/09 season after beating Bayer 04 Leverkusen 1-0 . In addition, he was in the same season in the UEFA Cup final in Istanbul, which was lost 1: 2 nV against Shakhtar Donetsk . On February 24, 2010, he extended his contract with Werder Bremen for another four years until June 30, 2014. After he had mostly played against relegation with Werder in recent years and he probably saw little prospect for the club in the near future , he did not want to extend the contract that expired at the end of the 2013/14 season.
VfL Wolfsburg
After 13 years for Werder Bremen, in which he played 215 Bundesliga games (46 goals) for the club, he switched to league competitor VfL Wolfsburg for the 2014/15 season , where he switched back to his former sponsor at Werder Klaus Allofs and his long-time teammates Bremen times Naldo met. In the first half of the 2014/15 season Hunt made 17 appearances (2 goals) for his new club across all competitions, six of which he was in the starting lineup. He expressed dissatisfaction with this role as a supplementary player; a return to Werder Bremen after the winter break, however, failed. In the first leg of the Europa League game against Sporting Lisbon on February 19, 2015 , Hunt injured his knee and with this injury he was out for almost the entire second half of the season. On May 30, 2015, he won the DFB Cup with VfL, without playing in the final against Borussia Dortmund .
Hamburger SV
On August 31, 2015, the last possible day of the transfer period for the first half of the 2015/16 season , Hunt moved to league rivals Hamburger SV . He received a three-year contract valid until June 30, 2018. Hunt made his debut for Hamburg on September 11, 2015 in a 3-0 away win against Borussia Mönchengladbach . He scored his first double for HSV on April 8, 2017 in a 2-1 home win against 1899 Hoffenheim. In his 50th Bundesliga game for HSV - the 3-1 home win against VfB Stuttgart - Hunt made it 1-0 and thus contributed to Hamburg's 500th home win in the Bundesliga. At the end of the 2017/18 season he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga for the first time with HSV . Nevertheless, Hunt extended his expiring contract to June 30, 2020 on June 2, 2018. In July 2018, Hunt was elected team captain.
National team
When Aaron Hunt was appointed to the German U-21 national team in 2005 , he said that he had never seriously thought about playing for an English national team, so he chose Germany. On November 2, 2009, he confirmed this statement again after his good form is said to have aroused covetousness in England. He played in friendly matches in the senior national team in November 2009 against Ivory Coast and in August 2010 against Denmark .
