Beginnings

Kittel's parents are from Poland . He came to Eintracht Frankfurt from VfB Gießen in 1999 . There he went through several youth departments and played, among other things, in the U-17 Bundesliga South / Southwest. In 2010 he was part of the team that reached the finals of the B youth championship as champions of the league. With two goals scored by Kittel in the second leg, Frankfurt prevailed against Hertha BSC in the semi-finals and defeated Bayer 04 Leverkusen 1-0 in the final after extra time.

Professional in Frankfurt

Coach Michael Skibbe promoted Kittel to the professional team; He got a professional contract for the 2010/11 season with a term until June 2014. The then 17-year-old made his first appearance for the professional team on August 13, 2010 in the first DFB Cup main round against SV Wilhelmshaven . He made his professional debut in the local Commerzbank-Arena on August 28, 2010, when he was substituted on for Caio in the 84th minute in the 1: 3 defeat on the 2nd Bundesliga matchday against Hamburger SV . In his debut season he was used in eight Bundesliga matches, where he was twice in the starting line-up. On April 19, Kittel tore his cruciate ligament during training and was out of action for half a year.

His first appearance in 2012 in the 2nd Bundesliga after his cruciate ligament rupture did not take place on February 5, 2012 against Eintracht Braunschweig because he was not eligible to play. On February 18, 2012, two game days later, he was used in the derby against FSV Frankfurt . With the goal of the interim 4-0 in the 67th minute, two minutes after his substitution for Benjamin Köhler , he contributed to the 6-1 victory in the local Commerzbank-Arena . Kittel contributed in his total of 11 missions with three goals and one assist to the rise of Eintracht and was a regular part of the squad of coach Armin Veh in the final phase of the season . In addition to his appearances in the Bundesliga team, Kittel also played nine games with the SGE A-Juniors in the U-19 Bundesliga South / South-West, in which he scored four goals.

After Eintracht returned to the Bundesliga , Kittel was in the squad several times in the 2012/13 season and made a few short appearances . In mid-April 2013 he seriously injured his knee and was out for around six months with cartilage damage .

For the new 2013/14 season, Kittel cured his injury until around the middle of the first half of the season and was then part of the Eintracht squad for the away game at Bayer 04 Leverkusen on matchday 16 . In the Europa League he was substituted on on the 6th group matchday in the 62nd minute of the game against APOEL Nicosia . It was his only season appearance with the professionals. At the beginning of February 2014, Kittel again suffered from cartilage damage, had to be operated on a second time and therefore continued to fail. Nevertheless, Eintracht extended his contract by two years until 2016.

After surviving cartilage damage, Kittel played 18 games in the 2014/15 season in the Bundesliga before tearing a cruciate ligament in his left knee on matchday 31 in the game against Werder Bremen and was again out for a long time. It was the third serious knee injury in his career. On February 28, 2016, he returned to the pitch in a 0-0 home game against FC Schalke 04 .

FC Ingolstadt 04

On June 1, 2016, Kittel's departure from Eintracht at the end of the season was announced. For the 2016/17 season , the league competitor FC Ingolstadt 04 signed him , with whom he received a contract valid until June 30, 2018. For Ingolstadt, Kittel scored his first Bundesliga goal in the 3-2 away win against FC Augsburg on April 5, 2017. With the relegation to the 3rd division in spring 2019, the midfielder's contract lost its validity.

Hamburger SV

For the 2019/20 season, Kittel moved to Hamburger SV , where he received a contract that ran until June 30, 2023.

National team

Kittel has played in all DFB youth national teams since the U16 and scored two goals in a total of 23 games.
