José-Alex Ikeng (born January 30, 1988 in Bafia , Cameroon ) is a German- Cameroonian football player .
Career
Since 2003 Ikeng played in the youth of VfB Stuttgart . In 2004 Ikeng won the German championship with the VfB youth team. In the second half of the 2005/06 season Ikeng completed his first assignments in the Regionalliga Süd for the second team of VfB. In 2006 he was also awarded the Fritz Walter Medal for U-18 players in bronze. For the 2006/07 season he became a regular at VfB II, after he had already completed the season preparation with the professional team.
In August 2006, Ikeng tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on the third matchday of the Regionalliga Süd in action for VfB's second team against FK Pirmasens . After an inevitable operation, he did not return to training until March 2007 and suffered another cruciate ligament tear in his right knee that same month . After he had another operation, the healing process of the scar was delayed.
It was not until May 2008 that Ikeng made his comeback for the second team of VfB Stuttgart after a total of more than 20 months injury break. He made his professional debut on July 26, 2008 on the first day of the 2008/09 season for VfB II in the 3rd professional league against Kickers Offenbach .
In December 2008, Ikeng's contract with VfB was terminated with immediate effect for disciplinary reasons. Ikeng then signed a licensed player contract with Werder Bremen that was valid for six months from January 2009 .
At the end of July 2009 he tore another cruciate ligament. He only returned to Bremen's second team in April 2010, but because of persistent knee problems he stayed in rehabilitation beyond the season.
In July 2010, he caused negative headlines because he was suspected of having beaten a Turkish citizen with a brass knuckle and a stick after going to the disco. After that, the club no longer led him in the first team squad. On May 18, 2011, SV Werder Bremen announced the separation from Ikeng. On May 24, 2011, FC Ingolstadt 04 announced Ikeng's commitment. He signed a two-year contract until June 2013. He made his second division debut on August 5, 2011 (5th matchday) in the 1: 4 defeat of the FCI in the away game against Fortuna Düsseldorf with his substitution in the 63rd minute for Andreas Buchner . In the summer of 2013, his contract in Ingolstadt was no longer extended. He then moved to the Austrian First League for SC Austria Lustenau .
In January 2015 Ikeng joined the 3rd league team Hansa Rostock . At the beginning of 2016 he moved to the Stuttgarter Kickers . After he was relegated to the regional league with Kickers, he left the club without having played a competitive game in summer 2016.
After two years without a club, Ikeng joined the Württemberg league club Calcio Leinfelden-Echterdingen in January 2019.
