There he played in the second half of the 2005/06 season in the Bayern League and made 13 appearances. After being promoted to Regionalliga Süd this season, Buchner became a regular in the following two seasons, he played 53 games and scored six goals. With Ingolstadt he rose to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2008 . Buchner made his second division debut on November 2, 2008: In the 4-0 victory over SC Freiburg , Buchner came on for Valdet Rama in the 65th minute and scored the 4-0 goal four minutes later. Buchner remained loyal to the FCI even after relegation to the 3rd division and was one of the pillars of the team in 2009/10 , which managed to immediately return to the 2nd division. Shortly after the start of the second half of the 2010/11 season, Buchner was seriously injured in the game at Fortuna Düsseldorf and was out for the rest of the season. In the following second division season 2011/12 , the midfielder was one of the regulars again with 26 appearances this season and three goals until he suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his right knee in a 4-0 win against SC Paderborn in March 2012 . Due to the following operation, he also missed the entire 2012/13 season.

In the summer of 2014 Buchner moved from the Ingolstadt professional squad to the club's second team. There he played for three years in the Regionalliga Bayern before ending his career.
