Odil Ahmedov ( Uzbek Алимжанович, Ахмедов Одил , sometimes Odil Akhmedov ; born November 25, 1987 in Namangan , Uzbek SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Uzbek football player . The midfielder has been with Shanghai SIPG since 2017 and is active for the Uzbek national team .

Career

On May 16, 2006, Ahmedov played his first professional game at the age of 18 wearing Pachtakor Tashkent's jersey against Qizilqum Zarafshon . His coach at the time was Valeri Nepomniachi , who had a great success with Cameroon at the 1990 World Cup . With this club he celebrated the Uzbek football championship twice and the Uzbekistan Cup three times . He was also voted Uzbekistan Footballer of the Year in 2009. For Pakhtakor Tashkent , he completed 86 games and scored six goals. On February 9, 2011 Pakhtakor's official website announced that Odil Ahmedov will play on loan at Anzhi Makhachkala for one year . Just four days later he scored the 1-0 winner in the friendly against Obolon Kiev and thus his first goal for Anzhi Makhachkala. On July 1, 2014, he moved to league rivals FK Krasnodar , where he played until the end of 2016. Then he went to Shanghai SIPG in China , where he plays Hulk and Oscar with the Brazilians .

National team

On October 13, 2007 Odil Ahmedov graduated against Taiwan for the first time an international match for the Uzbek national team .

At the 2011 Asian Football Championship in Qatar , he scored 1-0 in the opening game against Qatar from around 35 meters away. His second goal in the tournament followed in the group game against China . After a sovereign group victory before Qatar, they beat the team from Jordan in the quarter-finals , but then lost to Australia clearly with 0: 6. In the small final his team lost 3-2 to South Korea and achieved a surprising fourth place. After participating in the 2011 Asian Cup, several clubs from Europe , Russia , Ukraine and the Middle East were interested in signing the midfielder. On September 5, 2019, he played his 100th international match in the first game of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup .
