The Shanghai International Port Group Football Club ( Chinese 上海 上 港 , Pinyin Shànghǎi Shànggǎng ), SIPG FC for short and generally known in German-speaking countries as Shanghai SIPG , more rarely Shanghai IPG , is a soccer club from Shanghai in China . history
The club was founded in 2005 as Shanghai Dongya FC. Since then, the China League Two could be won in 2007 , so that one rose to the China League One . In 2012 the China League One was won, so that one finally rose to the Chinese Super League and held the class to this day. In 2012, the team name was sold to the Zobon Group for 30 million yuan (for three years) . Before the 2013 season, the name was sold again as a result of a sponsorship deal with the Shanghai International Port Group , so that the club is currently called Shanghai SIPG. At the end of 2014, Sven-Göran Eriksson was signed as the new head coach.
In the summer of 2015, the Ghanaian international Asamoah Gyan was hired by the al-Ain Club . In early 2016 it was announced that the club had signed striker Elkeson from league rivals Guangzhou for an eight-figure transfer fee.
During the summer transfer window of 2016, the Brazilian Hulk was signed for a record sum of around 55.8 million euros. His compatriot Oscar followed in January 2017 . With the two reinforcements, the Portuguese trainer André Villas-Boas reached second place in the league and the semi-finals of the Asian Champions League.
On November 30, 2017, Villas-Boas left the club after just one year.
