history
The current city emerged from a settlement called Muromzewo ( Муромцево ), which was known since the 16th century. In 1835 a textile factory was established there. After the October Revolution this was nationalized and was named the Cotton Factory of the Red Army and Fleet ( Бумагопрядильная фабрика им. Красной Армии и Флота ). In the 1920s a workers' settlement was built around it, which from 1947 together with the former village of Muromzewo formed the city of Krasnoarmeisk - literally "Red Army City".
