Rubin went on the professional tour in 1991 and quickly established himself among the top 50 in the world. In 1995 she sensationally reached the quarter-finals of the French Open when she defeated Jana Novotná 7: 6, 4: 6 and 8: 6 after she was already 0: 5, 0:40 behind in the third set. She was able to fend off nine match points and then turn the game around. For the US Fed Cup team , she completed a total of eleven games between 1995 and 2004, in which she was successful eight times.
After frequent injuries, she has been on a break - apart from brief comeback attempts - since 2005.
