Brenda Schultz-McCarthy (born December 28, 1970 in Haarlem ) is a former Dutch tennis player . On April 8, 1995, Brenda Schultz married University of Cincinnati American football player Sean McCarthy.
Career
Schultz began playing tennis at the age of nine. In 1986 she played on the WTA Tour for the first time . In her career she won a total of 7 singles and 9 doubles titles at WTA tournaments. She reached her highest position in the WTA world rankings on May 20, 1996 with ninth place.
From 1988 to 2006 she played 33 games for the Dutch Fed Cup team , of which she was able to win 22 (double balance: 9: 2). After a longstanding injury, she ended her tennis career for the first time in 1999. In 2005 she made her comeback on the tour. In 2006 she was able to reach the quarter-finals again at the grass tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch .
At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, she played doubles for the Netherlands and reached fourth place with her partner Manon Bollegraf .
In 2013, after a five-year break, she appeared again in two ITF tournaments in doubles, each alongside her compatriot Jainy Scheepens .
