Nathalie Tauziat (born October 17, 1967 in Bangui , Central African Republic ) is a former French tennis player . She won 33 titles on the WTA Tour , eight in singles and 25 in doubles.
Career
Tauziat became a professional player in 1985. She lived first in Saint-Tropez , later in Bayonne . She achieved her best placings in the WTA world rankings in 2000 in singles and in 2001 in doubles, each with rank 3. The serve and volley game was her great strength. She was coached by Régis de Camaret .
Tauziat won individual titles in 1990 in Bayonne, 1993 in Québec and 1995 in Eastbourne . In 1998 she reached the Wimbledon final, which she lost to Jana Novotná . Tauziat played doubles for a long time with Judith Wiesner .
At the Olympic Games, she reached the quarter-finals alongside Isabelle Demongeot in 1988 and 1992 .
In 2002 and 2003 she played doubles at some tournaments before she finally left the professional tour.
Vortex around book publication
Tauziat published her book "Les dessous du tennis féminin" in 2000, in which she denounced sexist behavior on the ladies' tour. The publication earned her the only cover picture on a German tennis magazine.
