Karina Habšudová (born August 2, 1973 in Bojnice ) is a former Slovak tennis player .

Career

Habšudová started playing tennis at the age of ten. As a junior she was at the top of the world rankings for some time, in 1991 she won the title at the US Open .

In her professional career she won a total of one single and seven double titles on the WTA Tour . There were also tournament victories in ITF tournaments, six in singles and two in doubles.

In 1998 she won the Hopman Cup for Slovakia together with Karol Kučera .

She won 26 of her 40 games for the Slovak Fed Cup team , 18 of them in singles.

Personal

Habšudová worked as a sports journalist for several years after her professional career. She later took care of her two daughters as a housewife. Today she bears the family name Cíleková .
