Karin Kschwendt (born September 14, 1968 in Sorengo , Switzerland ) is a former tennis player who competed for Germany , Austria and Luxembourg .

life and career

In 1970, Kschwendt moved with her Austrian father, who was a nuclear physicist , and her German mother from Ticino to Luxembourg, where she grew up. The move into the third round of the Grand Slam tournament of Wimbledon scored Kschwendt 1990 her first big success. In the same year she reached the second round at the US Open . In 1992 she won the double competition at the WTA tournament in Prague together with Petra Schwarz from Austria . At the $ 100,000 WTA tournament in Auckland , she reached the semi-finals in 1993, but then failed to Caroline Kuhlman . In 1994 at the French Open and 1996 at the Australian Open , she was once again in the third round.

Kschwendt was German champion in women's singles in 1991 and 1993.

On February 19, 1996, she achieved her best rating in the double world rankings with 45th place and six months later, on August 12th, 1996, with 37th position, her best single ranking.

In total, Kschwendt earned prize money of 674,599 US dollars in her professional career. For the Luxembourg Fed Cup team between 1986 and 1997 she won 16 in 31 games.

After studying at the FH Wiener Neustadt , Kschwendt, who has lived in Vienna since the end of her tennis career, became HR manager at T-Mobile Austria in 2016 . Since 2018 she has headed the Human Resources and Technical Support department at the Federal Computing Center .
