Monino ( Russian Монино ) is about 25 kilometers east of Moscow located urban-type settlement in Russia . It belongs to the Shcholkowo Rajon (district) of Moscow Oblast and has 22,821 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
history
The place goes back to a solitary farm whose last name was Monin. The population grew very quickly, especially in the middle of the 20th century. While only 28 inhabitants were counted in 1926, in 1959 there were already over 10,000. Since 1946 Monino has had the status of an urban-type settlement . From 1947 to 1951, around 50 German families from the Soviet occupation zone of Berlin lived there.

Monino has a train station from which there are regular train connections to the Yaroslavl train station in Moscow.

The rugby team WWA-Podmoskowje Monino is based in Monino .
Others
Monino became known worldwide through the Central Museum of the Air Force of the Russian Federation and the Gagarin Military Academy of the Air Force in the immediate vicinity , at which Sigmund Jähn was also trained. The star city is located near Monino .
